Leading the Way in Sustainable Waste Management at All Points East

At Nu Group Services Limited, we are committed to making a positive impact on the environment, and this year’s All Points East (APE) event provided an incredible opportunity to showcase our efforts. Working in collaboration with A Greener Future, we implemented a back-of-house waste sorting facility designed to minimise the event’s environmental footprint and promote long-term sustainability.

Creating a Sustainable Solution
To meet the needs of this project, we repurposed wooden pallets to build an efficient and eco-friendly waste sorting system. This facility handled general mixed recycling collected from front-of-house bins and allowed us to categorise waste streams effectively. Each waste stream was meticulously sorted into specific categories, including:

• Cans
• Plastic
• Soft plastics
• E-waste
• Cardboard
• Glass
• General waste

This detailed sorting process ensured that as much waste as possible was properly recycled, significantly reducing contamination and improving overall recycling efficiency.

Data-Driven Waste Management
Beyond waste sorting, one of the key goals of this facility was to gather essential data on cross-contamination levels within the waste streams at APE. The insights gained from this data will help inform future decisions and strategies on waste management for both the event organisers and other stakeholders involved in sustainability efforts.

By working together with A Greener Future we’re proud to have taken a vital step toward reducing environmental impact and promoting responsible waste disposal practices at large-scale events. The lessons learned and data collected from this project will support continued improvements in sustainable waste management, not only at APE but also at future events where we can make a meaningful difference.
